    I worked at BB&T

    Pros

Weekends off, other than occasional half day Saturday. Good learning experience. Nice to see some clients on a regular basis.

    Cons

Always end up with overtime due to workload, but not allowed to get paid for it due to no overtime policy. You were made to back overtime out by taking longer lunches or coming in late or leaving early on another day they could work out during the week. Also, had to make daily sales goals and make cold calls. List turned in each week, sometimes daily, of who you talked to and what product you sold or discussed. Sales affected pay raises which were practically non-existent.

    Pros

Getting to know clients and building a relationship with them is one of my favorite things about this job, there is always something new to do, we do get paid vacation and sick days, however those days are hard to use because there is no staff.

    Cons

The shortage of staff members is getting be ridiculous, the goals they expect are almost unattainable because the employees doing more than required for their job title to compensate for no staff.

I have been working at BB&T full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

great training for your position, ideally client focused. good brand name (for now).

    Cons

outrageously high sales goals (recently increased), short staffing makes day to day operations tough and providing the PCE nearly impossible. detached management. down training (IE managers have to be tellers and bankers, bankers have to be tellers, etc).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pay attention to branch level staff, adequately staff branches, this will hurt their long term

I worked at BB&T full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Culture is friendly
    - Benefits are good
    - It's a very stable company

    Cons

    - Your experience will depend largely on your branch's traffic. At a high-traffic location you'll have an easy time meeting your weekly goals, but if your branch is slow you'll be fighting for scraps.
    - Expense management with be stressed by upper management, but then thrown out the door as they waste money on marketing materials for products people do not care about and internal websites dedicated to information that is already available for free elsewhere.
    - Your pay as a teller or a banker is not at all appropriate for the amount of liability you will take on.
    - Working Saturdays
    - Dealing with the general public.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Re-examine your overdraft policy. Getting a measly $144 dollars from somebody is not worthwhile if it costs you their entire relationship.

I have been working at BB&T part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are motivated there is no shortfall of work present. Management strongly promotes those who can sell.

    Cons

Company became too focused on sales abd lost sight of the clients and the employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create other methods for supporting growth in the staff. Give the employees a stronger feeling that they are cared for as employees not just sales people.

    I worked at BB&T full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits are wonderful, including insurance, payed time off, and sick leave.
Employees at all branches have a great working, family like relationship.
Great place to start a career in banking.

    Cons

You get a great starting pay but if lucky can only expect an annual pay increase of 2%, if any.
The bank operates on a skeleton crew which can cause many frustrations.
Very little chance for advancing in the company; nepotism at its finest.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your staff and end the "good ol' boy" system in place and promote employees with real talent and who produce.
