Former Employee – worked at Banana Republic full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Leading company in operating systems, great retail place to begin one career, sets the standards for other companies and helped me be great at what I do, where I worked afterwards.
Cons – Have to be a self-starter if you want to learn. Would always outsource to fill management positions, wouldn't even interview associates interested in growing with the company.
Advice to Senior Management – This company provides great tools, use them and help your associates grow. I assure you it would be a great for the company

Former Employee – worked at Banana Republic full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The company is quick to move people up to leadership positions. Come in to work and do your job well, express interest to grow with the company and you'll move up pretty quickly.
Cons – All managers not created equally. Some of the upper leadership team are great and motivational, while others inspire a negative work place.

Former Employee – worked at Banana Republic part-time
Pros – Not exceptionally demanding. Customers really aren't that bad. Most people are very polite.
Cons – Required to solicit customer credit card applications. Asking isn't enough-- you have to get people to sign up. Constantly threatened with termination if app. goals aren't met. Even when I achieved one of the best app. rates in the region, I was constantly treated like I was falling short. I had an internship at the same time, which was discussed in my interview. I agreed to work holidays to ensure that I would receive the appropriate scheduling to accommodate my intern hours (which I was able to notify them about weeks if not months advance). Ultimately, they started threatening not to give me the agreed upon time off for my internship, despite getting dozens of credit cards apps per month and working every holiday (including the closing shift on 12/24 and opening shift on 12/26).

Current Employee – been working at Banana Republic
Pros – Great company discount through the multiple companies associated with Banana Republic, such as Gap and Old Navy.
Cons – Lots of turnover, not many employees are very invested in the company, but that is the nature of retail.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire people that are serious about working for the company. Many employees quit because they got tired of "on-call" shifts.

Current Employee – been working at Banana Republic part-time for more than a year
Pros – Some great products and customers.
Cons – It is never the company that is bad. Just the people you work with.
Advice to Senior Management – Do not just sell the kool aid. Drink it to, you may find out it works.

Former Employee – worked at Banana Republic full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – First and foremost the discount. The company's policy and procedure as well as values. A company that values people and it's customers. A company that cuts cost everywhere possible EXCEPT their people as well as being a green company.
Cons – I would say the only downside would be a slight disconnect between tiers of management. Sometimes things get muddled between middle management and management on a district manager and above level.
Advice to Senior Management – I think yearly stakeholder feedback is key. Obviously not bashing sessions but honest discussion.

Current Employee – been working at Banana Republic part-time for less than a year
Pros – They offer a great employee discount which crosses over to most of the Gap Inc. brands. They also operate on "Carpe Dinero" which allows associates to earn bonuses depending on if the store meets overall sales target numbers.
Cons – While the brand is a clothing brand that I can easily support and recommend, they aim for a more classic style and aren't on trend through the seasons.
