I have been working at Best Buy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

It's a fairly simple job with lots of work to keep you busy. Employee discounts and compensation with bonuses are great. Good benefits with medical, dental and 401k and plenty of vacation and paid time off.

    Cons

Big con is you can only make so much money. Your salary caps out at a certain point and you can no longer receive raises. There is also very little room for advancement to supervisor or manager to increase that salary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to management would be to contribute to your team. Do not just stand around with a clipboard or binder and oversee the employees. Just because you are management does not mean you cannot help a customer.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible with school schedules and better compensation than many other retail stores.

    Cons

They recently cut down on management positions which is the reason why I decided not to continue with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more selective when hiring holiday workers. I frequently trained employees that were a far greater cost to the company than help.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's all up to how much you put in. The harder you work stay late learn show that you got what it takes you can move up once a spot opens up. Of course you have to interview for it but your performance everyday will work in your favor to get the spot.

    Cons

Holidays in retail long hours and work almost every weekend.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Worked with some really cool people.

    Cons

    Staffing was sometimes an issue

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sometimes having specialists in areas is a good thing. And with cutting management, shouldn't the sales floors be better staffed?

I worked at Best Buy part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I actually had a lot of fun working here. Everybody was really nice and for the most part very professional. If you want to see and hear about the newest technology that's available then this is the place for you.

    Cons

Working late at night until 11 PM isn't always the greatest thing, but it will be like that in any retail environment. Also, you can bet that you will probably be working the major holidays as well. They have really dumb computer trainings that everyone is required to take. They are sticklers for corporate policy, and if you miss your break or do something accidental with your schedule then they frown on that pretty badly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would tell management to do away with all of the required computer trainings. Offer incentives to employees that want to gain more knowledge about products. And train employees in group settings as opposed to using stupid computer animated applications.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I had a phone interview 4 days after applying online. It was smooth and easygoing. Scheduled an in-person interview. Went to the store and got a feel for the culture. People seemed like they enjoy working with each other. The in-person interview went well and I got my job offer.

    Cons

Took a long time to hear back after drug screen and background check.
