    Pros

Employee Discounts are always a plus, you develop close friendships with coworkers, and grow a learning on modern technology. It's useful if you are majoring in photography, business, or IT.

    Cons

Rude customers can ruin your day, people always want to use your discount its OK to say no because it's yours (not being selfish), some times it gets unprofessional as employees talk among each other in front of customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Even when there are days you think that are not busy, always put a decent amount of people on the schedule in their departments, especially FRONT LANES. Train and advise your employees more on the technology and GSP offers from their departments. A lot of time there are complaints from customers because the employees don't know their stuff. If there are customers being mean because they want a cheaper price of a product they got off the wrong shelf or under the wrong sticker tag, just say NO. Its not worth it!

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

There are many opportunities for growth within the company and chances to grow as a sales person.

    Cons

High turnover led to a difficult experience because changing management provided different SOP than previous management and caused conflict within the store.

I have been working at Best Buy (less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent hierarchy in store. Everyone very helpful in helping you to succeed. Education process very easy, although I believe it would be better if there was more vendor interaction besides Samsung and HP who go above and beyond in sharing information about product lines.

    Cons

Biggest Con I can think of is mainly that the sales expectation of corporate is skewed departmentally...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more hands on demonstrations of equipment. E-learning is wonderful... but learning electronics is as much about playing with the gear is spewing statistics. Being able to demonstrate what equipment can do will sell equipment faster to those that don't already have a concrete idea of what they are looking at and what the core statistics represent. (For example... how do you demonstrate the benefit of Solid State Hard Drives over Conventional if you can't see how they react when tasked?)

I worked at Best Buy part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

If you like meeting new people everyday then this is pretty great. You have to get to know people in order to help them find the right electronics to fit their lifestyle and if you like getting to know people this should be easy.

    Cons

A lot of pressure to bug people you know have already been greeted in the store. There is also a lot of pressure to make sales.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that when people come into the store they don't need to be greeted by a person in every department. I know people who don't like to go into best but because of this.
