Current Employee – been working at Cerner
Pros – I am working for Cerner India since long time now (>2 years) and have also spent some time at Cerner HQ in Kansas City. It is very easy to point out negative but I want to emphasize on good things first - Cerner India recruits fresher from college and pay them well as starting salary (primarily to attract talent because of competitive market today) and the quality of training is superb. This culture comes from Cerner HQ and as an organization they try their best to train the associate in every aspect of healthcare domain and IT skills in line with their business needs. There are lots of big IT players which do not bother to train associates in domain with risk of increasing their employability outside and thus attrition, but Cerner spends good time and money on making fresher Healthcare IT engineers. As such it is good company for fresher to start their career and they will not just be a number there but an associate with due importance.
Cons – Now what ails Cerner India? The major problem is highly inefficient managers and architects. There are people at Lead architect and architect level who cannot write one piece of logical code properly, forget helping their teams by giving valuable inputs or architectural insights. These are the people whom Cerner hired when they opened new office in India and they have become indispensable for Cerner India now but as a matter of fact they are good for nothing in terms of technical growth. All new managers which are hired are friends/relatives of current managers so it is a mesh now which has becomes is rotting the culture of India office. They just know how to manage engineers, force them to work till last breath and make excel sheets to keep their bosses in US HQ happy. Because of this big team of highly incompetent leaders in Cerner India, they play dirty politics among themselves to save their skin and good engineers at the bottom get frustrated and say good bye.
In the nutshell, Cerner is good company to work but I wish someday Cerner HQ realize the true picture of Cerner India and replaces dummy architects with competent ones.
Advice to Senior Management – Cerner HQ realize the true picture of Cerner India and replaces dummy architects with competent ones.

Former Employee – worked at Cerner full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Great experience working in a fast-paced ever-changing industry.
Cons – Don't compensate as well as they could and it makes using them as a "stepping stone" in switching to a more lucrative position with another company.

Current Employee – been working at Cerner full-time for more than a year
Pros – Stable career, okay pay, onsite facilities, get to work with some very talented people.
Cons – Too many hours, I felt like i was at work 24/7. Promotions without a pay increase until reviews come around. Lack of vision by upper management. Teams seemed to be re-organized about once a year. 20 solutions to do one task rather than one excellent solution. Expect to work 60+ hours a week. Internal workflows for service requests are horrendous.
Advice to Senior Management – Better quality of life for your employees, better long term vision for upper management, better compensation.

Former Employee – worked at Cerner full-time for more than a year
Pros – Cerner is a great place to start a career, they provide a ton of experiences to young grads and are very laid back. Young employees, almost all straight out of college.
Cons – Once you cross a year or two , the learning really slows and you end up just "punching the clock." There is a very limited number healthcare experts at Cerner, mainly just individuals that grew up through Cerner and don't understand the healthcare system.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire more experienced associates to work with all the new grads.

Former Employee – worked at Cerner full-time for less than a year
Pros – Stable Company
Decent ability to move around (after 2 years)
Good culture and work place
Specific skill set that is being used a lot right now
Cons – SolutionWorks is probably the worst group inside the company to be placed in.
Hardly working with code
Performance is purely based on metrics, nothing else
Job title should be more like Customer Solutions (Technical) Analyst or something
Advice to Senior Management – My advice would be on a more personal level to my manager, so I'll use this as a comment section.. Would I recommend this to a friend? If they were going into the position I was, no. If they were in a different department inside of Cerner, probably. This market is driven a lot on the political landscape so the outlook for 6 months looks good. 2+ years, however, is a question mark.
They should definitely invest in getting Neal public speaking courses or something, because he drops Cerner stock every time he speaks in a public forum.
