Work here if you don't care about making money

Sales Assistant (Former Employee)
Chicago, IL (US)

I worked at Clear Channel full-time for more than 3 years

ProsI really liked the account managers that I supported. They were very easy to work with and very appreciate of my hard work. That's about all I can say that's positive about my experience here.

ConsMy workload tripled and I never got any type of raise. Mindless work for sales assistants. No type of training offered for people who are interested in growing their careers and advancing in the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou can't demand people work more without compensating them for it. There are tons of organizations one can build a successful sales career at with better compensation and benefits packages. Why anyone in sales would still want to work for this organization is beyond me. Plenty of other opportunities at organizations who value their people and reward them for their hard work.

Horrible company to work for....employees not valued at all

Account Executive (Current Employee)
Las Vegas, NV (US)

I have been working at Clear Channel full-time

ProsLarge company with lots of assets, free coffee in break room. Offer 401k with 50% match (but takes 5 years to fully vest). Paychecks haven't bounced yet.

ConsLousy commissions, no "team" environment, excessive paperwork, no expense report, low rated stations, micro managing, poor health insurance, little opportunity for advancement

Advice to Senior ManagementShow some appreciation for your employees and give them a reason to love their job and stay

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

The money hungry face of corporate pop culture continues to thrive

Promotions Team (Current Employee)

I have been working at Clear Channel full-time for more than a year

ProsFun coworkers, tickets, promotional perks

ConsExtremely low pay, high expectations without any investment in employees; behind the tech times; no room for growth; company is in serious debt

Advice to Senior ManagementIn order to retain quality employees, companies like CC must invest in reasonable salaries/benefits and professional development.

Worst experience I've ever had

Account Executive (Former Employee)

I worked at Clear Channel full-time for less than a year

ProsFlexible schedule
You may come and go as you please
"Free" tickets (to not so great things)

ConsNo formal training
No help from managers to get you started. Everyone is "too busy" to help you when you need it
I had no idea what I was doing when I was finally given an account
All accounts are mainly given to senior sellers

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your new employees with more intense, face to face training. Maybe your turn around rate would be so high if you would take a little more time to care about your new hires.
Treat all your employees equally, at least during business hours.

Very disheartening on the regional level.

Account Executive (Current Employee)
Oklahoma City, OK (US)

I have been working at Clear Channel full-time for more than a year

ProsAwesome global company that is staying on the cutting edge of media technologies. If you want to try your hand at media sales on an entry level basis this might be an ok place to start but if you are a seasoned vet you might want to try out one of the competitors.

ConsBeware of management, smoking mirrors and unclear goals. The tell you what you want to hear to get you in the door but the minute you express concerns about your pay or culture they will "starve you out". The position is 100% commission but 70% of the sales team has been there for 10+ years there is not an opportunity to really secure high billing contracts. If there is an error out of your control, traffic, billing ect; management will not defend you they will push you in front of the bus. Management's concern is revenue NOT your commission so if it's good for their bonus and bad for you guess who is getting pushed in front of that bus, you. Instead of building, and supporting the sales staff they are constantly brought down and badgered. Being in a 100% commission job is hard as it is, but when you have to fight in your own home to eat it doesn't make for a very friendly work environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement at the regional level is a disease that is sure to manifest itself into an epidemic
