    Pros

Nice, friendly environment, except HRs. They are hard to negotiate

    Cons

The HRs have more say in recruiting compared to scientists, even the HRs have no idea about the needs of R&D.

    Pros

Extremely diverse company make everybody welcome
People are overall very nice and polite

    Cons

Colgate moves slowly - not a fast pace company
Depending on the dept where you are, it can take forever to be promoted and move to the next level

    Pros

All employees that are hired at Colgate are great people to work with. They are smart and make up the positive, non-cut throat attitude that exists at the Canadian subsidiary. Everybody is very collaborative and willing to help out each other. Colgate is a great place to work if you are looking for international opportunities. After spending a couple years at the company at senior levels, being mobile becomes a requirement for promotion. There is great work life balance at CP - you have to work hard to deliver results but it is not expected that you work into unreasonable hours of the night as compared to other CPGs.

    Cons

Colgate is very conservative and makes its shareholders their number one priority above its consumers and its employees. That being said, the company does not invest in developing a great work culture and does not do enough to invest in its employees. Compensation is on the lower end of the Tier 1 CPG scale and promotion is slow and based on the time with the company rather than merit-based.

    Advice to Management

Respect employees, promote faster where applicable. Being frugal with employees is definitely noted and not contributing well to corporate culture.

    Pros

Stable company with numerous personal growth opportunities. Employees in salaried positions are often able to move into career paths other than what they were hired for allowing them to learn and grow. Excellent benefits.

    Cons

Focused on cost reduction at the expense of innovation. Good old boys club attitude prevalent in senior supply chain and corporate engineering positions. Like most large corporations decision making slow. Work/ family balance not uniform across the organization. Layoffs and forced retirements have become the norm in recent years.

    Advice to Management

Swing the pendulum back toward an innovation focus and less on cost savings. Value experience and longevity in the company instead of looking at it as a cost burden.

    Pros

You learn all about the manufacturing, transportation, warehousing, and customer service departments of the company and get great analytical experience. There's no such thing as getting coffee for your manager.

    Cons

In a six month internship you train anywhere from two to two and a half months, making it hard to be able to see the benefits of your work.

    Pros

Colgate is a good school and it also provided good benefits. It is company that is always looking to improve systems and processes. It also has good professionals

    Cons

Some times it is hard to continue your professional growth because they can't spare the people to be assigned to other opportunities because they are tied in personnel

  11. Helpful (1)

Expect you to perform very well but do not offer a full time position afterwards to most interns.
