Smart people, interesting work, long hours, good pay

Senior Analyst (Current Employee)
San Francisco, CA (US)

I have been working at Compass Lexecon full-time for more than 3 years

ProsCompensation is probably best in the industry; co-workers are incredibly intelligent; PTO is very generous

ConsWeak performers are rarely kicked to the curb; there's a somewhat perverse incentive structure where top performers are made to work more; performance-based bonuses would be a way of alleviating this, but they are pretty equal across all analysts

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Secondments between European offices are very common.

ConsSmall company atmosphere can sometimes get in the way of simple things.
Firm focuses only on competition (this applies to CL Europe only).

Great Compensation, Terrible Office Environment and Culture

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Chicago, IL (US)

I worked at Compass Lexecon full-time for less than a year

ProsThe pay and bonuses are fairly good.

ConsThe Chicago office is one of the most depressing I've ever worked in. It is very dark and old (hasn't been touched since the 80s). Carpet is being held down with duct tape. There is an extremely clear hierarchy between the haves (vice presidents and above) and the have-nots, and the have-nots' opinions don't matter that much. The support staff at times are treated awfully, though I've heard it is different in other offices. The CEO is very old school and out of touch and respects tradition, not innovation.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe CEO (Daniel Fischel) should retire and someone with innovative blood should take over. The should be at least *some* embrace diversity within the higher ranks as opposed to only old, white men.
