    Pros

Highly educated, accomplished colleagues who took pride in their work. Room for advancement. Encouraged to push myself to reach goals.

    Cons

Senior management at corporate was totally out of touch with rest of company. Practiced Lean Six Sigma to a fault, resulting in overworked, underpaid employees and non-existent work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Make work/life balance a priority for all employees.

  2. Majority of leadership team are incompetent swindlers. Most of what is advertised about the company is a lie.

    Pros

-Easy work. If you are competent and have some prior work experience you will be above most of the company in terms of skills.
    -Multinational company.

    Cons

-Horrible culture. Crane advertises strong adherence to its values which are about treating people fairly and doing business open and honestly. However, the actual culture is by far the most dishonest and deceptive I have worked at out of 5 companies I have worked at in my career. Advertising of the "Crane Values" is borderline illegal since Crane flaunts these values to attract employees and customers but does nothing to adhere to them. You have good and bad in every company; here there are far more bad than good people.
-Crane brands itself as a manufacturer of highly engineered products. In the fluid handling segment, there is a complete lack of technical competence and everything was engineered 20 years ago and is now trailing the competition. Current leadership is a group of dishonest sales guy type personalities who will say anything but won't actually do much. Unfortunately there is little cohesion and it is every dishonest weasel for himself. Don't get me wrong, there are some really good people there too. Unfortunately, the culture here is dominated by the bad ones.
-Bonuses targets are structured so you don't meet them as a corporate cost savings initiative (really).
-Don't just listen to me. Ask around the industry what people really think about Crane.

    Advice to Management

Stop lying. Bring in quality people. Actually make a good faith effort to do what you claim. It isn't that hard to have an ethical culture and be capable of engineering new products...you just need the right people.

    Pros

There have been some important acquisitions that positions Crane as big player in its industry.

    Cons

There is a work overload on every department and management is only worry about the bottom line

    Advice to Management

The model is unsustainable, when the economy and the job market recovers there will be an exodus of employees and the cost of retraining will be a burden on those who stay, placing the company in an endless cycle of employee turnovers and training that will affect their precious bottom line.

    Pros

If you are interested in more of a 9 to 5 job rather than a long term career with lots of potential, you might be able to find a position that is a good fit

    Cons

Not much opportunity for advancement. Constant cost cutting to make the stock price go up without concern for the long term. No investment in intellectual capital. HR is not your friend if you are having problems with management.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees more

    Pros

good people to work with in production but the middle and upper management are the worse people to deal with that I have ever seen.

    Cons

worked in engineering for 5 years and recently a new "director" took over for the electronics group and as always he has his favorites and craps on everyone else. unfortunately he really doesn't care about anything besides himself and those few that suck up to him. the ethics in the engineering dept. have gone down the drain also in giving the customers bad data and just letting anything go out the door. now that they are closeing the doors on this place they will be keeping a "call center" open for all the customer complaints that will be coming in from the bad parts that have made it out the door in the past couple years.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of Bob Tavares and the whole electronics group they are a mess and a losing battle

    Pros

    - Compensation was good!
    - you are expected to perform from day 1

    Cons

    - Management not receptive to new ideas.
    - Interns are treated more as clerks to complete excel work for managers.
    - Actual job responsibilities differed from those mentioned during selection process.
    - Boast of open culture and open door policies, but manager rarely follow it with interns.
    - No real company culture, more a combination of many organizations under one umbrella.

    Advice to Management

Set the goals and expectation for the interns in advance, and stick to those goals.
