Fort Worth, TX (US)

Former Employee – worked at Dr Pepper Snapple Group for more than a year

Prosout working without managers over you..well besides the in-store managers..the time you get off daily depends on how hard you work
very laid back management

Consyou walk in the door as a swing merchandiser...meaning you will be working behind people everyday...whenever the regular merchandiser comes back on his route.. he will tell the manager you messed his stores up..no matter how good of a job you did...most of the sales reps suck..if you never did this type of work you dont know how important a sales rep is to your day

Advice to Senior Managementkeep a close eye on all the merchandisers..not just the ones the regular route merchandisers complain about

ProsNo Micro-management. Set schedule. If I work fast, I go home sooner.

ConsAt times, long hours (which job doesn't have them?)... Some grocery store managers can be tough to deal with ... Has to help with stocking merchandise because not enough merchandisers on staff.

Advice to Senior Managementdo more thorough training... hire more merchandisers.

Pros-Casual Dress
-Fair work hours
-Good Medical, Dental, 4% match 401k

Cons-Unqualified employees (employees without proper degrees for their job)

-Extreme top-heavy (more managers than analysts)
-Lopsided Pay. Some 'grandfathered-in' employees have enormous pay rates when their position, education, and ability should not be allocated it.
-HR has a tendency to make low-ball offers to new hires
-No Holiday Bonus for anyone below manager level
-Attempts to transfer or get promoted can come under intense scrutiny.
-Poor education reimbursement policy

Former Employee – worked at Dr Pepper Snapple Group part-time for more than a year

ProsThe pay is good for the job. You get payed full time hours even though most times you only work 25-30 hours a week. The managers are understanding and good to work with as many of them will work just as hard as you do, they get to go home early when they finish early so they will like you if your a fast worker and reward you in suit.

ConsThe work is not easy. In order to finish your stores during peak season you will have to work fast, work hard, and even work extra hours. This is only around times like Independence day, superbowl, and other peak party times. Dealing with lazy co-workers can sour you, try to team up with someone who cares about their job as much as you do and you will be fine.

Advice to Senior ManagementAlways reward your hardest workers and dont try to be our buddies, this will only cause problems in the long run. Offer us free drinks after a long day, we know you can :)

Current Employee – been working at Dr Pepper Snapple Group full-time for more than a year

Pros-Compensation is above average for the work
-Self-directed learning allows motivated employees to grow their knowledge in the job areas they want, but needs to be kept in check and standardized
-See a strong desire from management to improve, but does not have a cohesive plan for it.

Cons-Very far behind the times, just implementing 5S. While I'm not a fan of "flavor of the month" type projects in general, the company seems stuck back in the early 90s and just starting to move forward with putting an emphasis on statistical process control and continuous improvement.
-Unions - standardized pay scales based entirely on time worked instead of pay for performance only gentrifies the employees and does not promote continuous improvement and excellence.
-Lack of standardized procedures or training both in-plant and across the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementTraining - STANDARDIZE IT! I understand that the company is relatively new, having only been around for 3 years, but the culture is too old and needs to move faster. Utilize the strengths of each of the small companies and bottlers acquired over the years to improve each plant.
