    Pros

Exciting and challenging projects underway to modernize the company. Leadership is supportive of ambition and knows they should think big.

    Cons

Sometimes there are a lack of processes and also a lack of speed in modernization efforts. As a result, some change feels slow.

I worked at E*TRADE Financial full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

You get paid every two weeks, if and only if your manager remembers to approve time cards with your planned vacation that you reminded him several times that you would be taking. If not, you only get half a pay check maybe, but your budget will be thrown off drastically.

    Cons

Senior management promotes by nepotism. If your the husband of some director, you'll get to take a 24 before anyone else who deserves it. If you're the drinking buddy and family vacation taker of the director, senior manager and manager, you'll probably be promoted to Team Lead. This makes it impossible for a rep to feel comfortable with following the chain of command, because the entire chain will be huddled up at each other's homes playing XBOX or whatever they do. This is worse than the rule "it's about who you know". Management in my group never did anything except compose threatening e-mails to the team about bringing in more leads that we wouldn't get compensation on. Senior management and directors don't care about the knowledge of the employee or the hard work and stress they go through, they just promote their frat buddies. I feel bad for the women and minorities. HR is a joke and management exploits that. Management and Senior Management, even if you are doing everything and more than your role requires, if you stay in a position too long, will attempt to force you to quit or force you into a position that you have no desire going to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want the queue numbers to decrease and the lead numbers to decrease, don't hire your drinking buddy who feeds the newer reps BS to tell the customer because they don't know themselves only to result in an escalation. And make sure your other drinking buddy doesn't make it so obvious that you are drinking buddies. Give the rest of the more tenured brokers some sort of hope of advancement even though there is absolutely no chance.

    Pros

There are no pro's other than they will pay you eventually.

    Cons

-Leadership lacks vision, understanding, and how to manage.
-For a firm that is supposedly tech savvy; they are about 10 years behind the rest of the industry.
-There is no clear vision of where this company is going.

I have been working at E*TRADE Financial full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Etrade values work life balance and offers opportunities to advance in your career path. The management team also supports their employees allowing them to pursue their professional goals.

    Cons

Etrade is primarily a stock brokerage firm and is transitioning to a discount broker dealer firm with a full product line offering. Having worked at a competitor in this space Etrade needs to develop products that are competitive in both price and performance to be successful. The firm also needs to embrace retirement planning as an initiative to further develop client assets to diversify the firms revenue stream during turbulent market conditions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The internal systems at Etrade need to be reviewed and modified to be more inline with competitors software package for employees. If the firm is attempting to transition to a full service discount broker and intends to offer more than a platform to trade stock, information must be accessible in a more useful format for employees. Additionally, there are several contract groups that offer 3rd party services for Etrade that should be brought in house to ensure business continuity.

    Pros

    Great Health Benefits
    Employee Benefits
    Flexible Work Schedule

    Cons

    Micro Management
    Inexperienced Management/Employees
Majority of the work staff have been employed since the start of their careers; therefore, they are not receptive to new ideas that are not conducive to what they are use to.
Managers will minimize the skills that you bring to the table to make themselves look good in the eyes of upper management. In addition, they will steal your ideas as their own.
    High turnover rate

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to your employees.
Welcome ideas from individuals that may go against the grain.
Invest in management training for all individuals who manage other employees.
Don't be afraid to highlight employee's strengths.

I have been working at E*TRADE Financial full-time for less than a year

    Pros

No free drinks, so can stay healthy!

    Cons

They use ancient technology. The place is run by folks who have been there for 15 years, and have an interest in keeping it that way. And of course getting information from them is impossible. Not much work to do. The drama compensates for that. The architecture team is a talking shop. They take a year to complete a project that should take a month, Expect to be yelled at and told repeatedly that you have you no idea about technology. Dont expect much help from HR. Recently they have beenlots of employees who have been frame and fired. HR tells you that the manager can do anything they want, including yell and spitting at you. If you're seriously down on your luck, consider this a temporary stopover.
