    Pros

As an entry level FSR (financial services rep.) you will learn and gain exposure to almost everything within the brokerage banking system. If you like overtime especially in the tax season it will be available. Excellent support and training.

    Cons

You will be on the phone all the time, I'm not saying this is a con but there is no time for chit chat as there is almost always calls in the que. You will be micromanaged down to the minute including call time, breaks, lunch and almost everything you do. Again not necessarily a con just the way it is. If you are punctual and don't mind working for 8 hrs a day then you will do fine and will gain a lot of knowledge and experience.

    Pros

    The people here are nice.

    Cons

    Very little diversity.
Do not care about the comfort of their employees. (2 microwaves and 2 fridges for the entire bottom floor.
Cramped spaces to work in. Some even share a desk.
    No communication between groups.
Pay is not up to par for being in the Silicon Valley.
Outsource way to much which causes even more communication problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more and include more benefits in order to make coming to work more enjoyable. If you want us to work long hours at least make it comfortable.

I worked at E*TRADE Financial full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You get paid every two weeks, if and only if your manager remembers to approve time cards with your planned vacation that you reminded him several times that you would be taking. If not, you only get half a pay check maybe, but your budget will be thrown off drastically.

    Cons

Senior management promotes by nepotism. If your the husband of some director, you'll get to take a 24 before anyone else who deserves it. If you're the drinking buddy and family vacation taker of the director, senior manager and manager, you'll probably be promoted to Team Lead. This makes it impossible for a rep to feel comfortable with following the chain of command, because the entire chain will be huddled up at each other's homes playing XBOX or whatever they do. This is worse than the rule "it's about who you know". Management in my group never did anything except compose threatening e-mails to the team about bringing in more leads that we wouldn't get compensation on. Senior management and directors don't care about the knowledge of the employee or the hard work and stress they go through, they just promote their frat buddies. I feel bad for the women and minorities. HR is a joke and management exploits that. Management and Senior Management, even if you are doing everything and more than your role requires, if you stay in a position too long, will attempt to force you to quit or force you into a position that you have no desire going to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want the queue numbers to decrease and the lead numbers to decrease, don't hire your drinking buddy who feeds the newer reps BS to tell the customer because they don't know themselves only to result in an escalation. And make sure your other drinking buddy doesn't make it so obvious that you are drinking buddies. Give the rest of the more tenured brokers some sort of hope of advancement even though there is absolutely no chance.

I have been working at E*TRADE Financial full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Etrade values work life balance and offers opportunities to advance in your career path. The management team also supports their employees allowing them to pursue their professional goals.

    Cons

Etrade is primarily a stock brokerage firm and is transitioning to a discount broker dealer firm with a full product line offering. Having worked at a competitor in this space Etrade needs to develop products that are competitive in both price and performance to be successful. The firm also needs to embrace retirement planning as an initiative to further develop client assets to diversify the firms revenue stream during turbulent market conditions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The internal systems at Etrade need to be reviewed and modified to be more inline with competitors software package for employees. If the firm is attempting to transition to a full service discount broker and intends to offer more than a platform to trade stock, information must be accessible in a more useful format for employees. Additionally, there are several contract groups that offer 3rd party services for Etrade that should be brought in house to ensure business continuity.

There are no pro's other than they will pay you eventually.

    Cons

-Leadership lacks vision, understanding, and how to manage.
-For a firm that is supposedly tech savvy; they are about 10 years behind the rest of the industry.
-There is no clear vision of where this company is going.
