I have been working at Allstate full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Very tenured, hardworking group of people in the California Region who are focused on the stakeholders (agents, customers and stockholders).

Cons

Merit increases are very low, even for high performing employees if they are too tenured.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don’t take your people resources for granted. There is value in tenure.

    Got to learn a lot about the insurance company.

    Cons

    A lot of the job was coldcalling new clients.

    I worked at Allstate full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Great time off in benefits package, including the option to buy days off. Also, the company contribution towards benefits is pretty good. Also, the vast majority of people who work there are really great people.

    Cons

    There are many cliques within the company. If you are not a member of the right cliques, you probably won't advance much within your career. There is no focus made to retain outstanding employees. If a department is cut, even the best employees with outstanding ratings are cut, and there is no real opportunity given to locate another job within the company if you aren't within the right cliques.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Find ways to retain your best, truly loyal employees who have outstanding ratings year after year, especially when "business decisions" are made to close departments. That talent has a wealth of company knowledge that will serve any other department very well, and every effort should truly be made to retain them.
