I worked at American Cancer Society full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits, good PTO. It's a relaxed atmosphere and you can wear jeans everyday. Can be very rewarding.

    Cons

Like any call center job, people can be very mean over the phone and you are expected to know everything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more to the little people and quit trying to reinvent the wheel.

I have been working at American Cancer Society full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    -Nationwide organization
-Changes with advances in data to remain relevant
    -Schedule can be flexible
    -Great benefits
-I am making a difference in the world with the work I do each day

    Cons

-Too much travel in mid to senior-level positions makes work/life balance difficult
-Although the organization is proactive, much of the work is reactive which is very stressful
-National decision-makers do not always seek direct input from local-level staff & volunteers when making changes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Not every issue required intervention from senior management. We put hard-working fields staff under a lot of pressure and under a microscope too often.
