I have been working at AstraZeneca

Pros

Nice atmosphere, relaxed atmosphere in my area.

Cons

Can be difficult to get people on-board with some projects. The relaxed atmosphere is nice, but it can feel a bit lethargic at times. A bit of an 'old boy' network in the top echelons with the older (mainly men) enjoying excellent salaries, with a bit of a difficult climb for talented younger people. Most of the really talented people move to other companies in order to get ahead.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better talent spotting at the junior levels. Too stultifying at the top levels.

    I worked at AstraZeneca

    Pros

A full bag of products. Managers seemed to genuinely care. The sales training program was robust for the pharma industry

    Cons

Overall, I did not like the pharma sales process irregardless of the company. Not much room for advancement within AZ.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It may be prudent to look at another means of accessing physicians. The old model of waiting for the physician does not work anymore.

    Pros

Could be BetterGood Salary, good benefits, co car

    Cons

Favoritism, not recognizing the real attributes for leadership. Promotions for the wrong reasons. People get into management to check the box and are not really qualified to run a district or a region. Many leave after 2 years in the field regardless how good or bad a job they have done. Usually more damage than good. Home office people scared to leave their offices to meet the customers and see what the real world is really about. Many HQ personnel know very little about the buisness yet they are making the business decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your feild personnel for suggestions. Get out int he field more often and meet with the cusrtomers. Not just a one day field visit once a year, but a number of times over the course of the year. Award the people hwo realy deserve the recognition not just the ones you favor.
