I have been working at Best Buy part-time for less than a year

Pros

The schedule are VERY flexible, and they are great in helping students. The work force is great and everybody gets along perfectly.

Some managers seem to overlook the priority that the customer should have, instead they try to employ corporate driven tactics

I have been working at Best Buy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    * Company runs like a sports team...it's not about how long you've been there or who you know, but what you contribute to the team. It's one of the few places where if you work your butt off, you will be recognized and rewarded for that
    * Great overall benefit package for FT employees and they are working hard to create solid benefits for PT employees as well
    * Potential for overall personal development is higher than most places, but you have to be willing to go after it and show you truly are willing to work for it

    Cons

    * Last few years, they have lost sight of their core values, and in some parts of the company, they are pushing hard without recognition or reward to go along with it
    * Low volume stores are like working for a totally different company, and the employees and managers there work much harder for the same or less than the rest of the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    * ensure the values are truly being lived at ALL levels, especially with your district and territory staffs, who have too much power
    * truly learn what life in a low volume store is like, don't just believe what your territory teams are telling you

    Recommends
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
