I worked at DISH full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Good people to work with, marketable technology

Cons

Punch in, punch out, no flexi hours, no working from home, no 360 degree review - so managers are very powerful, if you conflict the manager then you hold a risk of getting laid off in "silent" layoffs

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be practical, improve employee morale by introducing 360 degree employee review, introduce flexi hours

I have been working at DISH full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great fellow technician, independent, 3 day weekends, necessary tools provided, bonus incentives, promotion upon meeting goals.

    Cons

I have been a Dish tech since 2007 and worked my way up to a level 4 technician. After requesting a transfer to another office I was denied and force to quit to relocate. After arriving in my new city I was rehired at Dish as a level 1 technician. Being several hundreds miles away from home I had no choice but to accept a $6.50 an hour pay cut and start from the bottom again

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget where you came from and treat people the way you want to be treated. People don't quit jobs people quit management. We are not Salesman we are Technicians

I have been working at DISH full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Dish would be a great fit for anyone that believes in merit based rewards and recognition, enjoys meeting and /or interacting with exciting and new people daily, and strives for perfection in all tasks and endeavors embarked upon. Dish offers great opportunities for advancement in one's chosen career path as well as laterally within the organization. Since Dish has installation offices nation wide one may be able to transfer locations for advancement or based on personal desires. Dish strives to stay on the cutting edge of technology and often is the leader in new technologies in their industry. Employee benefits are on par with other Fortune 200 companies.

    Cons

While being a great company to work for Dish has a corporate culture that permeates to the lowest level in the organization. Anyone going into the company should be fully aware that that type of culture exists and thereby should not find any surprises during their tenure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would like to see the company focus on the higher end of the customer base and develop our rapport with them as they do not churn as much as the lower end customer's and are financially better position to take advantage of additional services and new offerings. These also are the people that own and or run businesses that can further grow the company and its further its exposure in a positive manner.

I would like to see the development of rapport with customers built from the bottom up. This can be achieved by assigning specific personnel to interact with specific accounts. A new customer having a consistent point of contact for service related issues and billing issues will give the customer a better customer experience by delivering the personal feel. This will allow all teams in the company to be held accountable for their customer base. It also gives the customer piece of mind by having a specific technician or two that knows their system intimately and does not require the customer to explain their entire system or issue every time they are serviced or billing issues.
