I worked at DuPont full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great values, great products, great work-life balance, excellent offices in many countries, very clear mission statement, clear annual review process.

The company emphasizes stability and sustainability over immediate profit and in most cases truly sticks to its value, especially safety. 0 is the goal. If you have necessary key competencies for your level, can navigate thick political waters, and have PATIENCE to wait for your chance - you should do well in this company.

    Cons

    - LOTs of politics. LOTs.
    - Collective thinking that leads to countless hours of phone calls and non-objections. While this is good for ethics, it kills initiative as it's easier to keep it quiet.
    - One needs a 'sponsor' to progress higher once you are at certain level.
    - Most managers spend insufficient time for employee development - this works much better at the lower level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company spends hours on feedback, six sigma, etc and its management has a mind of its own. Management will not do anything that could potentially damage their career streak. Therefore they listen only to Wilmington & Geneva. Period.
