I worked at Einstein Bros. Bagels part-time for less than a year

Pros

Wonderful supervisor and coworkers, great team morale, interesting customer interactions. Helpful environment; clean environment. Employees genuinely cared about work ethic and each other.

Cons

It can be tough working with difficult customers, especially in the food industry but you definitely practice patience, tolerance, and respect.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management did so well, he was very experienced, patient, and understanding.

I have been working at Einstein Bros. Bagels full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Fresh-hot, quality bagels, schmear & coffee! With a good discount, darn good even.
Merit based advancement to mangement level.
    Regular Guests.
    Free Wi-Fi in most locations.

    Cons

Unclear company direction: halting rollouts part-way through, fast food or good food fast?
"Culture of waste" - ever changing POP, daily product waste, halted rollouts - it adds up.
Decrease in employee benifits over recent years.
Coupons - why devalue your product?
Below industry standard pay for longs days (10-12 hrs)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

*Focus on the core of your product base: Bagels & schmear, egg sandwiches and coffee. Wraps, salads, thins, poppers, catering with delivery, online catering, an endless line of new sandwiches/ salads... Compare the small, simple menus of highly successful upcoming food enterprises to the costly, high-inventory, expansive menu of Einsteins.
*Don't fall prey to every sales representative trying to sell you something to fix what's not broken. *Harken back to the days when the company was still private; have variety in bagels/ cream cheese/ coffee not everything but?

I have been working at Einstein Bros. Bagels full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Fresh bagels to eat daily! Great hours if you have a family, most General Managers work 4am-2pm.

    Cons

Pay is under the industry standard. Every single interaction with upper management has felt sneaky and dodgy. I know more than a few fellow coworkers who were promoted and promised better pay, given all of their new responsibilities, then were never given the promised pay raise. There's a store in my district with no General Manager, and a Assistant Manager in training running the store, for Shift Manger pay. The poor man is held to the standard of a GM while making 16k a year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay closer attention to your Area Business Managers. They are giving our company a bad reputation for taking advantage of hard working employees.
