If innovation is what you crave, stay away from EA

I worked at Electronic Arts full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Great perks around campuses
Loads of talented people
Great discounts
Decent compensation
You can seemingly skate by and be lazy for years if you're into that sort of thing

Cons

Bloated management structures
Lack of drive towards innovation or new IP
Absolutely not a meritocracy
Senior staff seems to still be in place (and getting promoted) after doing nothing but drive the stock price into the dirt

Advice to ManagementAdvice

How is JR still the CEO?!? And Peter Moore COO?! Since those two joined EA the stock has been in a nose dive. Obviously not everything is their fault, but this company needs new blood and fresh ideas.

I have been working at Electronic Arts for more than 5 years

    Pros

Ability to get the right resources for your project is there if you are a favored project. You don't have "startup" issues like "will I get a paycheck". A fair amount of job security depending on what job you hold. This doesn't include jobs with high amounts of churn like QA spots.

    Cons

You aren't a startup, everything moves at a glacial pace. Getting things done takes 10 meetings with 20 different people. God forbid your project stops being an important project, then things move even slower.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the bureaucracy and redtape out of the way of employees. Get rid of the current upper management. They really are clueless. When you tell your employees the problem with the stock price is that "Analysts just don't understand what we are doing", that is called bullsh*t
