Attracts highly intelligent workforce, but the best people leave after a few years due to terrible work environment.

Many bright and interesting people, challenging work, good place to learn skills and then go on to something better.

Cons

Good old boy management
Poor middle management
Politics trumps all
Horrible hours
Diversity and work-life balance are a myth

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Pays well, opportunity for travel

    Cons

Very bureaucratic and boring. Focus on process rather than product. Best to do nothing rather than do something wrong. The secret to success is to be totally hands off. Overrun with administrators and advisors. For every person doing work, there is someone watching them. Over the years they have become erratic. At one point they set long term strategies, now they seem to swing wildly. One day it's an extreme process orientation, next day, cut costs, next day security and controls.

I worked at ExxonMobil full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the best Benefits and Salary in the industry (and entire private sector).

    Cons

Very cut throat. "UP or OUT" mentality. You're ranked against your peers and the bottom 15-20% are pushed out the door. No work/life balance at all. Be ready to work 50+ hours per week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a look at the corporate culture you're creating. If you don't want top talent to jump ship after 3-5 years, look at making some culture changes. You're losing a long term talent battle.
