I have been working at Group Health full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people working in the trenches are among the smartest, most dedicated, and exceptional people I've ever known, both on the medical and on the health plan side.

    Cons

This is a trying time for the health care industry, and Group Health may lose the qualities that made it unique in its quest to survive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The meat grinder approach to workforce reduction may not yield the best outcome.

I have been working at Group Health full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Health benefits and paid time off are fantastic. Some very smart and interesting people. Salaries are getting better and an improved effort on training managers.

    Cons

It goes through cycles of spending and drastic reductions. Some people go there to retire and only do the minimum required. People who work hard only get a pat on the back and a smile.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find ways to motivate and reward staff, the mission itself is not enough.
