Current Employee - Principal Interaction Designer in Houston, TX (US)

I have been working at Halliburton full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good opportunities to work with very smart people and to make a difference. More people are starting to see the importance of interaction design. The benefits are decent enough as is the pay. Work life balance is good.

    Cons

Management still shows its hardware, big company roots. Corporate culture is definitely conservative in many offices, so don't expect Google style perks and freedom. Typical big company administrative overhead and occasional upper management edicts which make little sense tactically.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at high tech companies and see what works for them in terms of culture and flexibility. Trust your people more.
