    I worked at IBM

    Pros

Wonderful opportunities with the worlds largest IT company.

    Cons

Politics in the SA offices are challenging; lots of international assignees so limited opportunity for promotion in country; culture is not good.

I worked at IBM full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting projects to work on. Great collaborative environment - knowledgeable people to work with. Good for your resume. Fine if you're starting right out of school - get in, stay 2 to 3 years and then get out.

    Cons

I started working for another corporation that was subsequently acquired by IBM.
Following this, the pay increases stopped - not a single cost of living increase over 3 years!
Work evaluation system is ridiculous - even if you're ranked at the top (i.e., PBC 1) you are not guaranteed a fair cost of living increase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't just reward your top executives. Treat all your employees fairly.
