I have been working at IHS full-time for less than a year

Pros

*Because IHS is such a highly acquisitve company, the pace is very fast. In a good way!
*The executives are all extremely cordial and welcome feedback
*Great work/life balance
*The synergy amongst employees is the best I've seen at any company because everyone holds "stock" in the company and wants to contribute to it's success

Cons

*Lack of office space - but at the growth rate, can you blame 'em!
*Honestly, no other complaints!

A company that should go far but will stop dead in it's tracks if some things do not change.

Former Employee - Senior Manager in Singapore (Singapore)

I worked at IHS full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Slightly better than average benefit scheme, including medical, dental, leave etc... in comparison with SMEs'. When pit against other MNCs' in the category IHS endeavors to be, it is at best comparable.

    Cons

Aggressive growth requirements not supported by adequate support resources. The resources allocated on the different basis units are not reflective of the growth requirements on each unit.
Focusing on customer delight and colleague engagement as a rating tool but not on the spirit of such an undertaking are to improve both customer and staff loyalty which in turns retains talent and increases organic growth.
Staff remuneration is not based on an meritocracy. There has been large discrepancies in pay packages even when staff operates in the same capacity; or in cases whereby staff has far larger responsibility has a lower pay package. Staff turnover from new and old acquisitions are astounding from junior executives to mid management which are the foundations of any good company.
Acquisitions from differing backgrounds and business models have differing needs; rather than stiffening them in a corporate 'we are' environment, it might be ideal to focus on synergies that make the best business and resource sense.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

IHS is a company that should grow with the emplacement of talents that want to succeed, rather than placing too much emphasis on corporate goals and objectives. Talent management is a challenge for all companies but the essence of talent management has to be founded on a real meritocratic system and founded HR practices whereby focus are placed on the people.
Investing in areas of growth is of the utmost importance, but structuring the growth pace to fit with training, integration and maintaining a good culture will yield more for the company in the years to come.
