I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Very challenging environment, work with smart people, Reasonable base salary, excellent bonus and profit sharing programs, excellent other perks, good job satisfaction

    Cons

Office politics has gotten worse over years, sometimes decisions take longer time and can be frustrating, annual focal review process has been complicated but improving

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve how people's ideas are recognized. Too many managers and other peers with louder vocal chords take credit for others' ideas. Sometimes, excellent ideas are not adopted or acknowledged immediately and months/years later when they are adopted, the originator doesn't get any credit.
In spite of management efforts, office politics has gotten bad. People are afraid to take risks (compared to 1980-1990s) or think outside the box because either failure is penalized or thoughts outside the box are not accpeted readily. Openness is taking a toll. All of the above have been management promises for years but as we integrate more and more new hires from other companies in a hurry, the old culture has gotten eroded or become incosistent. Needs re-focus.

I worked at Intel Corporation as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

you can learn how large teams function. You also get to learn project management, SDLC and decision making through observation.

    Cons

Wrong people working in wrong positions. Performance is not measured properly. Everything is about how well you play politics and manage to get other people to do your work. Many arrogant bullies don't do anything and they are getting paid for giving a hard time to those who are working hard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

identify and get rid of the people who are not doing anything but playing politics and bullying others.
