Johnson Controls seems like a good company, but they don't plug in new hires.

Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee)
Holland, MI (US)

I have been working at Johnson Controls

ProsMost of the people are nice, the facility is nice. The incumbent personnel who have been there for a while are like a tight-nit family, and have a clear direction and sense of responsibility and accountability.

ConsThey seem to skimp when it comes to travel arrangements, tools you need to do your job. Management is not receptive to ideas, and they hold on to old technologies and programming languages, not employing the latest proven technologies, methodologies, and best practices. They expect developers to work well over 40 hours a week to compensate for still using procedural programming, and they wonder why deadlines are missed and bugs are prevalent.

Advice to Senior ManagementJust because innovation is written on your banner doesn't mean you truly embrace it. Let your engineers spread their wings and use all the skills they have to grow your products.

Technical Lead (Current Employee)

I have been working at Johnson Controls

Pros: 1) Johnson Controls can turn to be a tough negotiator while doing business deals, but knows how to make money. 2) Senior management able to… Cons: 1) Doesn't take much risk while doing business. Only going for deals when they smell money and are sure that they can make money. Sitting… Advice to Senior Management: 1) Good Diversified work force, but need to think more like a company having global workforce.
