I worked at Johnson & Johnson

Pros

JNJ offers a great career path within a respected company and category - namely healthcare. Multinational opportunities are at large.
Likewise, JNJ has a strong track record of innovation - allowing you to be at the forefront on new consumer insights and solutions.

Cons

Whereas the Credo is at the heart of leadership values at JNJ - on paper, these values are not always rigidly demanded of senior management to succeed. Allowing leaders to progress within the organisation while blatantly ignoring respect for the employee and for the customer - is happening. As a result, poor role models are emerging for employees to aspire towards.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It might be prudent to take a good look at direct employee feedback for each people leader, no matter how senior - and reasses if the results (shareholder metrics) do indeed outweight the first Credo responsibilities....

I have been working at Johnson & Johnson

    Pros

Access a lot of J&J products at cost of goods. Good work/life balance. Stable company and many business units. Good benefits package to employees including on site child care center.

    Cons

Work from home is generally not an accepted practice in the group I am in. Lack of transparency for career path/development, move across J&J companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to attract stellar performers and solid candidates by offering a strong benefit package including a pension program and flexible work schedules in the U.S.

I have been working at Johnson & Johnson

    Pros

Global reach and multiple sector driven company. As an employee you work in a multinational company that has a great vision of what it want to be. A lot of succesion planning for each employee.

    Cons

That same succesion planning is dominated by partial views that management can have of you and not driven by results. Marketing has too much dominance in this company, then they people in marketing do not have a lot of experence - more driven by recently out of school grad who do not have business knowledge of the products.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen not only to marketing, but to all departments of the business. Too much of the high management comes from sales and if you work in another division it is very difficult to get promoted.
