I have been working at Kaiser Permanente full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great staff, highly qualified, very experienced, best in the area. Good vacation & education benefits.

    Cons

Staff is overworked, understaffed. Retirement package is considerably lacking (translation... do you like cat food and crackers). Staff who retire from this health care organization do not get a break in the cost of health insurance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decisions should not be made by management not familiar with mental health services. Management has utilized the least resources while expecting the maximum from it's mental health staff. The per member per month cost for the mental health dept. is one of the lowest in the country.

Current Employee - Lead Project Manager in Pasadena, CA (US)

I have been working at Kaiser Permanente full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Work life Balance
Large enough to move within the organization
    Some groups offer telecommuting
    Extensive Training opportunities

    Cons

Hard to navigate because of size of organization
Can get "lost" in the crowd
    Career Growth can be slow
Very hard for "outsiders" applying to get a job, need to have an internal source to get a job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve Communication Skills for employees telecommuting. Many resources have trouble navigating in a virtual work environment.
