    Pros

You get to work at home. You learn a lot about different topics such as banking, police procedures and medicine.

    Cons

1.Very demanding. You are expected to learn terminology related to medicine, law, finance and administration over night. The training is superficial. You get a big glossary of words that you must inhale in order to be ready for any call.
Language line has little interest in really developing your abilities. Many agencies expect you to be certified in an area. Languageline doesn't really certify anyone in a specific area, so their clients think they're getting a certified medical interpreter, but in fact, they got someone who is a product of self-study only. Clients of course do complain and the management goes on these panic compaigns and starts to rigorously monitor everyone.
    2. You can earn more money doing almost anything else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You must prepare people for this job. If management fails to invest in their employees than Language Line fails their clients as well. If you sell your service to hosipitals, than those hospitals probably believe that those interpreters really know their terminology and that they haven't been thrown into deep water without a life raft. Clients should be aware that language line hires many people without fully preparing them for very difficult medical discussions. No mater how fluent you are in a language, you cannot become an expert in medical terms overnight. I wish that more interpreters out there speak out.

    Pros

Flexible because you're working at home, you get to listen to some interesting life scenarios and conversations, good for when you have children to look after

    Cons

LLS offers poor compensation and doesn't care much for its employees, there are no benefits, no vacation or health insurance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the existing interpreters earn enough money to stop the staff turnover, less employees equals more money for the qualified hard working interpreters
