Former Employee – worked at Lincoln Financial Group full-time for more than a year
Pros – Exposure to financial modeling, actuarial modeling and equity risk hedging. Excellent center city Philadelphia location convenient for driving or mass transit. Good working environment and office camaraderie. Mostly young office with many hardworking goal oriented people. Support for career development including educational reimbursement or time off while studying for professional certs
Cons – Can be a high pressure environment especially during periods of market volatility. Cultural fit is important and will work against you if you don't conform. Complicated financial models are stored in excel spreadsheets and emailed around with no concept of version control. Salaries are not competitive with financial services firms in NYC but are competitive for the Philly labor market.
