North Carolina State University Employee Review

Former Employee – worked at North Carolina State University full-time for more than 8 years

Pros – Great flexibility and autonomy. If you're a faculty member, it's pretty good. If you're a professional, non-faculty employee, it can also be good. Lots of vacation time. I don't know about regular staff.

Cons – Salary is below market. Recognition of doing a good job is non existent. Leadership from department to department is highly variable. Some department/unit heads have no management training or experience. This creates undesirable results

Advice to Senior Management – Recognize star performers better, find more incentives for employees. Require management training before promoting to dept./unit head.
