Current Employee - Account Manager  in  Seattle, WA (US)
Current Employee - Account Manager in Seattle, WA (US)

Pros

- Strong leadership in both corporate offices in NY and local offices
- Focused on employee growth
- Supportive of innovation - employees are allowed to attempt new things and fail without fearing for their jobs
- Communication from management and among peers is frequent, open and honest

Cons

- Current financial performance of the company is limiting some opportunity for advancement
- Accountability on the senior management level seems lacking or slow to occur (this seems to be getting better, though)
- Resources to support innovation are lacking at times forcing a DIY approach

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide the resources and structure to allow your employees to succeed and then hold them accountable to the targets that they agree to meet.

    Pros

Porter Novelli is wide open to you if you are entry level, and don't mind low compensation and long hours ... you will also be well treated if your greatest achievements happened 25 years ago. Everyone is super friendly. Lots of parties!

    Cons

Exceptionally weak senior management who are not able to act definitively. The most senior people there did great things 25 years ago, and nothng interesting since then. Be prepared to compete for billable hours across offices, across sister companies, and potentially within the office as well. The agency is still looked at poorly by Omnicom management, so it can be hard to get tools you need. The agency is viewed at by the industry as the people you go to for block and tackle work - not for thought leadership or innovation. This agency has the dumbest people I have ever met, though they are quite friendly and attractive!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to innovate. Learn to act. Fix the new business win ratio.
