I worked at Standard Chartered Bank

    Pros

As placed in a back office, the work environment was more relaxed. Other employees were very nice and welcoming to an intern

    Cons

Not much to experience as there were no big transactions. Prop desk didn't seem that active while some other departments seemed to operate on their own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Redesign the resource distribution.

I worked at Standard Chartered Bank full-time

    Pros

Unlike other 1st tier banks, SCB doesn't put much of weight on you academic background. For those who couldn't get into the major investment banks. SCB is a good place to advance your career. It is easier to switch your functionality from wholesale banking to sales & trading once you are in.

    Cons

performance not evaluated by the work done, but heavily from people's perception. You've gotta keep networking with bosses of your own and from other dept. as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I advise the management put more weight on how to get the work done, instead of the endless political talks. The organization has become such a political arena, that people with integrity can hardly stay here for too long.
