I have been working at Target full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Working around a wide variety of interesting people is fun, but the ability to cross-train and have opportunity for career advancement is above all the best perk.

Cons

Dealing with angry guest from time to time can be high stress, especially as GSTL. But being able to overcome problems and find solutions is very rewarding and makes it worth the tough times.

I have been working at Target full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The workplace is very energetic, and filled with Type A personalities.

    Cons

The culture encourages and rewards individuals who tailor communication to the point of withholding information -- that is, most anything "negative" is purposefully buried internally to dissuade the asking of questions and avoid undesired attention.

I worked at Target part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great way to being a career in loss prevention. Training is thorough and competent and Target provides all the resources needed to hit the ground running after getting hired. Asset Protection department is small and tight-knit with more autonomy than other departments.

    Cons

Low pay and long holiday hours. Inconsistent standards expected from different departments to those set by your own team leader. Excessively strict adherence to company policies can interfere with quality of work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

ETLS should realize that AP is not always run the way their own department is run.
