I worked at The Melting Pot part-time for less than a year

Pros

Good employee discount
Good training period and instruction
Challenging compared to a typical restaurant
Fun and professional atmosphere
Allowed to park on-site

Cons

Never really got to take a break
You and your car will SMELL like fondue for as long as you work there
Tough to get shifts at first

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work and incentives. As someone who is now about to graduate with a degree in Accounting and Management and having experienced the staffing of Melting Pot, you guys can definitely become a more lean and efficient operation. Having so many people on staff is expensive and quite frankly a waste of the employees' time. Look for people who will be able to work a set schedule, fill your needs, and then hire a few part-timers to have on reserves.

I have been working at The Melting Pot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The work schedule is flexible. Is perfect for a student looking to earn some money through a part time gig.

    Cons

The cons are that it is a job in the food service industry. Living off of tips is the most frustrating part of the job. Most customers do not grasp the concept of tip sharing systems that most restaurants feature. Large bills = large tip out (usually 2.5-5.5% of total revenues. Not tipping on 15-20% of the bill is completely unacceptable. But it happens often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Re-investment is key. GM's need to get owners to fork over the necessary cash to keep the restaurant running effectively.
