I have been working at The Miriam Hospital full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Wonderful benefits and flexibility, Highly stimulating with many interesting projects happening.

Cons

Was a great place, I would say the only downside is that there is so much research going on that it is difficult to know all that it happening. But, can be proactive to learn more.

I have been working at The Miriam Hospital full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

salary is reasonable. Some employees are nice to work with. Decent Earned time.

    Cons

Some Rude Managers. Work staff to death because short staffed and blame the budget for it. Allow to accrue only 1x your yearly ET. Policies vary department to department, some allow a max of 2 weeks off at a time, others allow a month at a time. Lastly, Lifespan Health Insurance sucks. Expect to pay extra copays if you go outside of the lifespan network.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your staff with utmost respect and communicate more efficiently.

Hematology lab is stressful, understaffed, and needing a big change...

I have been working at The Miriam Hospital full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits are okay but if you go out of lifespan service for a procedure or lab work they tack on huge fees. Job stability is there due to massive amount of specimen to process...

    Cons

Specimen volume for this core lab is huge and continuing to grow yet staffing is always a problem. It is stressful because it's so busy. It really burns you out after some nights to be honest and it's hard to walk away for a dinner break. There should be more staff on second shift to help. Some coworkers are team-driven but there are some who are definitely not, so working with them will really make the night even more stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need more staffing for such a large volume. Schedule is not flexible and it's tremendously hard to get a weekend off. If a problem shows up between staff management and HR do not do anything until months of this has happened.
