I have been working at United Airlines full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good structure, despite the merger, this is a good place to work with defined roles, lots of opportunities throughout the world.

    Cons

The merger with CO is stressful. Trying to bring two distinct cultures together. Former United employees work with set goals, objectives while former Continental employees tend to 'wing it'. This creates a lot of tension.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont abandon UA policies simply because it was a UA policy. UA had an excellent program to track employee use of business travel, with accountability when they no show for a flight. The new UA abandoned it. Don't abandon Lean Six Sigma.

    Pros

Airline perks, competitive industry, fast-paced environment with challenging market needs. Good place to develop and learn about the industry.

    Cons

Volatile market changes that result in many company reorganizations. Difficult to make long term investments or planning due to harsh market reactions.
