Insightful

Intern (Current Employee) San Francisco, CA (US)

Pros- Great exposure to aircraft systems
- Internship is applicable to a broad range of engineering disciplines. (Aerospace concentration is not required)
-Ability to travel stand-by on any United flight for free or heavily discounted price for international flights.
-Work hours are flexible

Cons- Salary is not commensurate to the location of employment
- Not the best place if you are seeking heavily technical oriented internship (i.e.doing equations or design work)
-Mundane but necessary paperwork and somewhat antiquated processes
-Lack of employment opportunities

Pros: Working for the world's largest airline with a massive route structure/franchise provides extraordinary opportunities for both professional and personal growth. Professional because you can move… Cons: Internal hires/promotions always pay less than "off the street" new hires from elsewhere. Labor and management seem constantly at odds, and… Advice to Senior Management: Focus on employee growth opportunities and hiring talent from within;… Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company… More
