I have been working at Walgreens full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

employees are awesome, you really get all around experience, pay is average, but current cutbacks in pay suck, so not sure about the new pay

Cons

company going through a re structuring which means doing same job for A LOT less pay, VERY hard to get promoted, especially lots of favortism & you may end up at a difficult location and not look as good as a much easier one. Hours vary, no set schedule, often forced to work over night or overtime if a manager calls out without a choice, long work hours without breaks or lunches.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

DON'T CUT MANAGEMENT pay, YOU'RE loosing the very reason customers go to Walgreens in spite of their markups, a lot mgt knows their customers well as do the employees, and they've earned their raises, to cut them is CRAZY. You'll loose great expertise, merchandising, people skills etc. its evident, shift leads don't provide same expertise as managers.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Interact with customers and peers from all walks of life, great opportunity to be a teacher to your employees. Figuring out new ways to drive sales and profit

    Cons

Seems to be a huge disconnect between corporate management and field personnel. A lot of micromanaging and no consistency in how district management lead their stores in different parts of the company. Poor work/life balance. They ask A LOT out of store personnel but rarely give the proper tools to succeed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop listening to Wall Street and listen to your customers and employees. Those are the 2 groups of people that will make any business shine or fail. Start by being a leader in the industry like we use to be instead of following the status quo

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Everything good about Walgreens has either been changed to something that doesn't even resemble what it used to be, or taken away altogether. I like the people I work with, but that has nothing to do with the company.

    Cons

Growing too big too fast and leaving employees behind. Ridiculous expectations for hourly employees - there simply isn't enough payroll to complete everything that corporate wants done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

invest in your people, you will lose them sooner than you think if this direction continues
