I have been working at Walmart full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Walmart can be a challenging company to work for at times, but it's worth it. I've moved up from the bottom, and I'm still moving. You can definitely make a career out of it, if you just stick with it.

Cons

With any retail environment, the job can be trying at times.

I have been working at Walmart part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Walmart is great for young people to find part-time jobs and also for people that have nowhere else to go. It is a staple in the local economy and the jobs are there to stay. They are very understanding with students/military for scheduling and they really work with you to get you through your education.

    Cons

Very menial and not so challenging jobs throughout the entire store (I literally worked a little of everywhere, primarily on the Front-End with customer service and cashier though). Not very exciting to get up and go to your job everyday, especially if you are a cashier and have to deal with grumpy customers all day trying to get their way

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to schedule better coverage in departments that actually need more people

I have been working at Walmart part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Most stores are 24 hour so you have plenty of options for shifts. You can set the hours that you are willing to work and policy states that you can not be made to work shifts you are listed as unavailable for. They have an open-door policy and a set way of handling problems. You have many choices as to what you do with the store: cashier or cell phones. Management or cart pusher. It is easy to get a job there.

    Cons

The pay is horrible. Because they hire easily you could be potentially working with a bunch of immature teenagers who will not do their job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have realistic expectations of what your employees can accomplish in a set shift.
