I worked at Williams-Sonoma part-time for less than a year

Pros

Great experience for sales and customer service, and meeting new people.

Cons

Seasonal/ part-time jobs. not much room for growth. But with a college degree, who would want to grow in the retail industry anyhow?

I worked at Williams-Sonoma full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits were good, especially the employee discount. Get to work with food and cooking all day so it was fun to go into work. Some really fun casual employees. The product line was great.

    Cons

Several - Most customers that walk through the door are tire kickers. Hard to sell to these people and they end up being a waste of time when projects had to be done. No management accountability - DM was out of our city and hardly visited. They were nice and interested but the fact they never came allowed mismanagement at the stores level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just make sure you have the right people in the right spots and let the associates sell their way. too many rules and questions to ask the customer. The hubris of upper management will get the best of the company and it will assuredly deteriorate the company fabric.

I worked at Williams-Sonoma part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Williams-Sonoma is serious about customer care and supporting their staff. Questions are addressed and answered. Customers and quality of product are the two most important factors driving their business.

    Cons

The computer system makes it difficult to follow up with clients and takes to much time to enter in client information. Because of this follow up is almost impossible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You care about the quality of your product line, because you understand that quality matters. However, when it comes to your POS and computer system, it becomes difficult to maintain that quality of service with substandard programs and equipment.
