I worked at Xerox full-time (less than a year)

Pros

A very supportive organization. They put agents first. Fun place to work.

Cons

In my site it was very disorganized because it was new. If you're at an established site, it won't be as disorganized.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just remember supportive org and remember that the agents are the front line and they earn you money. So take care of them.

    I have been working at Xerox full-time

    Pros

    Amazing people to work with. There was a lot of good institutionalized engineering knowledge before it was escorted out the front door in layoff after layoff.

    Cons

    Everything else unfortunately. Everyone understands they are on a slow moving train wreck, but there are few alternatives. With an aging work force, most people are content to hold out a few more years until retirement and there has been no new hires to back fill in years. No merit raises or promotions for years also doesn't help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I'd suggest taking care of your employees better, but we all know your endgame doesn't include the vast majority of them (unless they live in India).

    I have been working at Xerox full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Has been a great place to work for many years.
    Interesting work, focus on the customer by the front line employees is second to none.

    Cons

    Benefits and salaries being eroded rapidly. Harassment and bullying by middle management is rampant. Middle management has a level of disdain for the customer service organisation that is palpable. Targets and responsibilities are assigned that are quite out of the control of the employees. No trust either way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop lurching from one inane "get rich quick" scheme to another. Treat the core employees with an appropriate level of respect and reign in the secretive, scheming middle managers who are building silos of incompetence around themselves.
