Okay

Customer Sales Leader (Former Employee)
Montgomery, AL (US)

I worked at Express LLC full-time for more than a year

ProsI was similar in age with most of my colleagues so it was a fun environment for the most part. Great employee discounts. Open policy with upper management.

ConsThough there is open policy, it is still hard to get any changes needed. Hours are horrible and sometimes are cut at the last minute. It's a very bottom line company.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Awesome!

Backroom Stock Associate (Current Employee)
Orland Park, IL (US)

I have been working at Express LLC part-time for more than a year

ProsFun Atmosphere, Managers are hard working individuals, Fun people to work with.

ConsPoor pay, even for managers. Work can get repetitive, especially for backroom associates. Managers take up bulk of hours, so part-time associates get horrible hours.

Great job, horrible pay

Sales Associate (Former Employee)
Omaha, NE (US)

I worked at Express LLC part-time

Pros--Amazing team!
--best managers I have EVER had
--fun, cool atmosphere

Cons--minimum wage, even if you are promoted to sales lead, you do not make enough to survive---only $9/hr

Advice to Senior ManagementPAY YOUR ASSOCIATES AND SALES LEADS MORE! If you want to retain talent, pay people enough to survive so they will stay with the company

Great to build Customer Service Skills, not for career advancement

Sales Associate (Former Employee)
Edison, NJ (US)

I worked at Express LLC part-time for more than a year

Pros- Great for Type-A personalities in retail
- Staff becomes family
- decent employees discount with extra off at the start of quarters

Cons- environment can be stressful and demanding
- unrealistic standards
- long closes
- Work/Life balance decreases heavily with promotion

Advice to Senior ManagementCompetitors pay associates more or the same for less work. Give more hours to small stores with high traffic and volume to retain staff's top talent. Also, give yearly raises when the associate reaches that milestone, and NOT once in every may. The pay and work is not worth it.

Fun and Rewarding

Sales Associate (Former Employee)
Midland, MI (US)

I worked at Express LLC part-time for less than a year

ProsRewarded for Sales Achievements
Goal Oriented but not Micro-Managed
Fun Work Environment

ConsIts clothes retail....there will be slow times when you'll be doing "busy work" such as refolding clothes and "teacupping" shirts.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep it up!!!

Fun place to work.

Sales Associate (Current Employee)
Waco, TX (US)

I have been working at Express LLC part-time for less than a year

ProsThe employee discounts are totally worth it. Plus meeting lots of people is a great benefit. The work isn't hard at all.

ConsNo chairs at all in the back! Chairs would be nice if you spend your whole shift folding clothes. Shoplifters are irritating since you really can't confront them.

Brand Co-Manager

Brand Co-Manager (Former Employee)
Florence, KY (US)

I worked at Express LLC full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGreat place to develop skills in the retail world. Has great training programs and commitment to better internal candidates for promotions. Experience gained at Express also weighs heavily on your resume in a positive way for future jobs with other retailers.

ConsSometimes you feel to pressured to buy buy buy constantly to help make numbers.

Advice to Senior ManagementRemember the Core Values of the company.

current sales lead

Sales Lead (Current Employee)

I have been working at Express LLC full-time for less than a year

ProsI was promoted very fast, I work with great people, and I get a decent discount

ConsNo real cons for a retail job except there are other retail store that pay a lot more. My only real issues is that my sm is a control freak who still manages to lack follow through on important tasks such as payroll issues.

The Fashion Authority

Sales Lead (Current Employee)
Columbus, OH (US)

I have been working at Express LLC full-time for more than 3 years

ProsI really do make a difference in people's lives. I work in a fast-paced enviroment, so there is never a dull moment. The associates are amazing. The previous SM was not good. The current SM is a world of a difference and when the right people are working, it makes everything smooth.

ConsLittle incentives. Pay is not close to what it should be for all the work that keeps the store going. Lack of pay for basic associates means a high turnover rate, but we do recruit the best. It is rare to leave when you're scheduled to leave.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay the associates more than the minimum.

The employees can't afford the clothes

Sales Associate (Current Employee)
Arlington, VA (US)

I have been working at Express LLC part-time for less than a year

ProsI enjoy my time at Express, and I enjoyed learning a few things about how to put together an outfit

ConsThe hours are in the most inconvenient times of the day. As a student, my total time commuting takes up a good portion of my day, and what I'm paid barely covers the transport cost to and fro. There is always a pressure to get NEXT, although it doesn't seem to correlate to anything besides "Employee of the Month" type status

Advice to Senior ManagementWhat is the incentive for getting NEXT as an employee?

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
