Big corporation but small business mind

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Flextronics full-time for more than a year

ProsBenefit is decent and working hours is flexible.

ConsNot really organized. Upper management doesn't really communicate well with clients and has no business skills to run the whole projects. If you want to get some experience, it is ok place. However, not more than that. Flextronics is a manufacture company but trying to be innovative and trying to be a leader in the tech market.. However, at the end it is a manufacture company.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper management should know how to run the business and give people more clear directions.

Program Manager (Current Employee)

ProsLots of training, upper management really cares about us as a person.

GREAT PLACE TO WORK FOR

Customer Service Technician (Current Employee)
West Hollywood, CA (US)

I have been working at Flextronics full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGood pay and good experience. Hours weren't that bad. OK management. Customer service is definitely a must at this job. Don't expect to never be busy, but makes the day go by fast. Good area to work around as well.

ConsManagement is made to where you don't get weekends off at all. The loyal employees are overlooked when it comes to promotions. Sometimes management acts to where you expendable.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat employees better, especially the loyal ones.

10 years in electronics

Quality Supervisor (Former Employee)
Budapest, MO (US)

I worked at Flextronics full-time for more than 8 years

ProsYou are never bored. Good performance resulting in promotions. Management is open for suggestions. Training opportunities available.

ConsIf you are not in the "inner circle" you can easily be the first to be fired during a headcount cut independently of your performance, this is mainly relevant at leader levels. In case of an average employee it is based on real performance. Working environment is not always good in all offices.

Advice to Senior ManagementLessons learned never identified from business fails. No real benchmark why no more business can be reached.

Sweat Shop

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Flextronics

Prosthe people i worked with were great.
It has very professional and dedicated management teams.

ConsThe business is very cyclical. Lots of people get cut when a contract gets dropped.
Pay is Lower than it should be.
The general attitude for low level employees is that they can easily be replaced so there is little loyalty to the little guys in the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay a better wage and try to keep employees.

Super high turnover rate

Analyst (Current Employee)
Bukit Mertajam (Malaysia)

I have been working at Flextronics full-time for more than a year

ProsLearn a lot of system and technical skills
Learn about factory culture
Everyone is boss

ConsSuper high turnover rate
All the good people leaves
Does not promote family life
Leaving no skills
The people that stays cannot change their mindset
Management tries to replace skills by passing the jobs to new hires and causes them to leave due to stress and lack of knowledge sharing
Stiff rules and people are treated like robots
Old skool factory
Favoritism is everywhere and politics
No growth. The management positions are beyond saturated like 80% management 20% skilled workers
They already have a circle of inner trust here. Just learn what you can and leave. Don't trust anyone
Salary based on job grade. So the only way to earn more is to go up. Outdated. There are better companies out there. Once you finish learning and go through hell here, the skills are good for you to go out and get a better offer and better company and better culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementFire all the HR. They lack new ideas to retain people

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
