    Not recommendable as an Employer.

    Assistant Manager (Former Employee) Chennai

ProsIf there is no alternative, JOIN! If there is, stay away! Otherwise, could not think of anything positive worth mentioning.

ConsDecision making takes ages, then risk of deciding the opposite of what is required. Arrogance, lack of strategy beyond acquisitions. Focus on centralization and lack of flexibility. Trying to do business in Asia with an narrow-minded American mindset. Too many people in the decision making chain. No real Flextronics identity or culture! Messy organization and bureaucratic structures. No perspective beyond hire & fire: employment roller-coaster!

Advice to Senior ManagementDevelop a genuine Flextronics culture! Clear up the managerial mess in Asia. Do not assign managerial responsibility to job holders who do not understand the culture of the country they are supposed to be responsible for!

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    Great experience

Program Manager (Former Employee) Johor Bahru (Malaysia)

ProsVarious customer and products, place to learn a lot of experience and expertise

ConsLimited raise in salary, by quota. Even subornation good, eventually have to choose someone to be sacrificed

Lot of opportunity at the higher levels

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat opportunity for those willing to take initiative
Fast paced environment with little tolerance for bureaucracy
Good people culture without inter division politics that I have seen at similar sized companies

ConsOperations focus often leads to tactical, 'low risk and low rewards' near term decisions
Senior management are starting to adopt a more strategic approach but may take time for rank and file to change behaviors

Advice to Senior ManagementThink like a product company and feel free to be open to more ideas and taking some risks

    The revolving door

Technician (Former Employee) Austin, TX (US)

ProsVery competitive salary and as much overtime as you can handle.

ConsWhen times are lean and overtime is a bad word then it is time to update your resume. When the axe comes down it is swift and painless.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to keep the qualified talent and not just the "yes" people and there will be less of a let down in production when layoffs are neccessary.

Best place to see what you are made of

    Test Engineer (Current Employee)

Pros1. If you are a decided person nobody will stop you transpose your ideas to reality; you are always encouraged to improve things and not to be satisfied with sufficient
    2. Quarterly bonuses, vacation bonuses

Cons1. Highly dynamical work environment, always in a change, so you always have to adapt and your work seems to always never reach a goal
    2. Have to take care of small administrative tasks that are very time consuming and do not have any value added to your knoeledge

    Good Place to Learn

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Johor Bahru (Malaysia)

ProsGreat learning opportunity in cost control, NPI, contract management and lean manufacturing. Opportunity to learn about new products and manufacturing methods.

ConsHave to deal with the variances in customer order fluctuations that will not help in optimizing production and inventories. Career growth limited. Frequent lay off exercises in operating and management ranks. Very long work hours.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus to enable employee commitment vs creating a high stress environment.

Flex is a global Company with many Sites in many different countries

Global Strategic Supply Chain Manager (Current Employee) San Jose, CA (US)

ProsFlex is a global Company with many Sites in many different countries . Many of the sites feature Amenities like Cafe , gyms and rec area . Many SItes also offer bonuses and incentive based on Compensation to hourly employees.

ConsDue to the lean nature of the business model , not all sites enjoy the amenities above . Often employees are place uner harsh work schedules and are asked to perform well under heavy pressure ,also jobs in US and Europe are moving to oversea and India due to Cut cost on all the lean project .

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep jobs in US will save more money than cleaning up all the mess in oversea

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
