    I worked at Flextronics

    Pros

If there is no alternative, JOIN! If there is, stay away! Otherwise, could not think of anything positive worth mentioning.

    Cons

Decision making takes ages, then risk of deciding the opposite of what is required. Arrogance, lack of strategy beyond acquisitions. Focus on centralization and lack of flexibility. Trying to do business in Asia with an narrow-minded American mindset. Too many people in the decision making chain. No real Flextronics identity or culture! Messy organization and bureaucratic structures. No perspective beyond hire & fire: employment roller-coaster!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a genuine Flextronics culture! Clear up the managerial mess in Asia. Do not assign managerial responsibility to job holders who do not understand the culture of the country they are supposed to be responsible for!

I have been working at Flextronics full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great place to work, good pay scale, a lot of support (when you look for it), seems to be a strong management (but to be seen), not so much micro management

    Cons

Too large of an organization, can be bureaucratic, a lot of senior management changes in recent months

I worked at Flextronics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Personal Growth is in the culture. Lots of opportunity to go places. specialization occurs in segments. Good technology

    Cons

Not a 9 to 5 job, working globally has it challenges, moving from one segment to another is not as easy as it should be, there are some silo's and the company has some duplicate of roles

I worked at Flextronics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I worked in a department that was very proactive and my fellow techs helped each other. Pay was good and benefits are adequate. Every day challenged your skills and knowledge. Never a dull moment.

    Cons

Continuing R.I.F initiative to reduce budgets. Little chance for upward mobility.

I have been working at Flextronics full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Pretty decent hours. Communication pretty good no matter what level you are on. I feel like the pay is good for the work that we do. Great job if you love helping people and meeting new people everyday.

    Cons

Dealing with difficult people. Having to meet expectations based on numbers. If the store is short, no need to look for any help because you won't get it. NO OVERTIME!!!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't just look at the numbers and use that on how the store is doing. Make a visit every now and then so you can see the things we have to deal with on the daily basis and then you will know why we say and do some of the things that we do.

Former Employee - Electronic Assembler in Newmarket, ON (Canada)

I worked at Flextronics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - good experience to learn a lot of jobs within the company
    - the coworkers were the best part of this job, everyone was like a family, it was like a second home
    - usually stable environment and always busy most of the time except for some periods
    - very diverse so you get to meet people of different cultures and background

    Cons

    - MANAGEMENT were arrogant and didn't care about the workers so much and don't listen to the workers who have real complaints
    - it was far to travel to Newmarket for a lot of workers
    - pay was not that great for most

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being greedy and selfish and listen to the needs of the workers and keep them happy. This is why Flextronics eventually shut down.

I have been working at Flextronics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Diverse and interesting. Job involved a lot of travel to neat places. Must have great intercommunication skills. Interacted with great people from around the world.

    Cons

Can get laid off at any time. I never saw it coming. They had to make room for another higher level director. So even though you add a lot of value and do a great job you can get laid off at any time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should not lay off experienced employees. A lot of knowledge leaves the company.
