Former Employee – worked at General Bandwidth full-time
Pros – this company had possibilities and did show growth for several years. There are some very good people there.
Cons – Entire culture is driven by ego of its CEO and all employees cater and kow tow to him. It is a sick environment and the culture is as close to a dictatorship as it can be The company has underperformed recently and apparently has no answers to remedy its plight
every employee is aware of the fickleness of the CEO and just tires to keep their heads down and stay out of his cross hairs.
Advice to Senior Management – Get a new CEO.

Former Employee – worked at General Bandwidth full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Lavish parties and vacations for senior management
Senior executives get lots of perks
Cons – Company has never met its targets yet continues to lavish executives with perks
CEO is a nice person but incredibly arrogant and never misses an opportunity to self promote
The strategy for the company is to expand to drive growth and then slash quickly when that fails
Advice to Senior Management – When you are not hitting your targets cancel the Bora Bora trips and have your management meetings in a hotel conference room somewhere in Frisco
Stop pretending that you are the next big thing; Your business has shrunk every year for the past five years.. you just masked it with acquisitions.

Former Employee – worked at General Bandwidth full-time for more than a year
Pros – Good pay and flexible works schedules, The office environment was very professional and the people were generally good to work with.
Cons – Their business is currently unstable and therefore, so is employment. When I left, the workload was heavy and getting even heavier with layoffs. They need a turnaround in customer orders.
Advice to Senior Management – Instability of the salesforce does not instill trust in your customers.

Current Employee – been working at General Bandwidth full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Relatively stress-free environment. Engineers are treated fairly well. Presence of knowledgable coworkers. Fun projects to work on. New customer wins seem to be fairly frequent. New challenges keep you motivated. Respectful of work/life issues.
Cons – The layoffs are demoralizing. There is more work load due to less staff. Unsure about the direction of the company. Salaries are stagnant with no hope in sight. No/little organic growth - growth primarily due to acquisitions.
Advice to Senior Management – Be more open with employees about where we're headed, especially after having so many layoffs. Be a little more humble and less arrogant. Prove that you can take what we have now and make it work for the company rather than just acquiring other companies.

Former Employee – worked at General Bandwidth full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great employees.
Pay and benefits are good.
Severance packages are fair.
Cons – Senior management prides themselves of managing by metrics.
They believe they can lay off their way to profitability.
The continuation of layoffs will result in an increasingly difficult work environment.
Excessive overtime effecting ones home/personal life.
Advice to Senior Management – Capitize on the products and services that sale.
Reward the support and services groups not just sales and marketing.

Former Employee – worked at General Bandwidth full-time for more than a year
Pros – Pay was very good but that was carried over from Nortel
Great working level people
Cons – Moved from a 400 to 2200 employee company but did not change many of the processes so logic was to go figure it out yourself.
Work load was crazy with 70+ hour work weeks and was getting worse
Could not move the Network Transformation past the Tier 3 market with little competition
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your employees and take action from the most experienced and not on market trends
Try "Undercover Boss"
