Current Employee – been working at H&M
Pros – They are very flexible with your availability, when part time. The managers care about your growth and are always willing to help.
Cons – It is a fast paced environment which means long hours on your feet.
Advice to Senior Management – you are doing a great job believing in people, keep up the good work

Former Employee – worked at H&M full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – There are many opportunities to advance with the company. You just have to show you are ready to move up. Very fun company with good corporate culture and competitive benefits. Personally it was a good experience working there and I made some good friends.
Cons – You need to know how to ask questions and look out for your own needs. The independent learning style is not for everyone.

Former Employee – worked at H&M part-time for more than a year
Pros – -Great pay (here in CA, the starting pay is around $11.25/hr)
-Great benefits, even for part-time workers
-Great, reasonable discount (I think it was 20%).
-Very flexible
-Plenty of Hours
-Direct Deposit
-Great coworkers and management.
-Rewards when you do well.
-Upward mobility is actually possible.
-Most of the time if you ask for a day off ahead of time, you will likely get that day off.
-Rarely spend super late hours in the store closing, despite how messy it can get.
-Work is relatively easy to do.
Cons – I really can't think of any cons at the moment, other than the fact that because it is a high-volume store, it can become a mess. Especially when a special line is released, or during peak seasons like holidays. I otherwise have nothing even remotely bad to say about this company. They will definitely continue to do better than their competitor (Forever 21).
Advice to Senior Management – None at the moment. Keep up the good work. There are other companies who could stand to learn a thing or two from you guys. I am highly considering applying for re-hire if eligible, since it's been about 6 yrs since I worked here. All I have been hearing is that things continue to get better and better here.

Current Employee – been working at H&M part-time for less than a year
Pros – It's an easy job! The pay is very competitive, they offered me a,most a dollar more than my previous job!
Cons – You get NO hours, I've been there for about 3/4 weeks and I'm still not trained! I'm doing everything off of previous experience and better than them! The store is a disaster! The supervisors? RUDE. They gave out my phone number to all the other girls without my permission now they text me all the time to cover their shifts!
Advice to Senior Management – Train your associates!

Current Employee – been working at H&M part-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Great benefits and the staff. Nice clothes. Discount is decent.
Cons – Overworked, hard to move up, head office is a joke. Values they push are not always attained so don't buy what they're selling. Too corporate but I'm guessing it's just in Canada.
Advice to Senior Management – Need to get organized and actually manage the stores so that there is consistency and good employee moral in the workplace.

Current Employee – been working at H&M part-time for more than a year
Pros – Co-workers and managers are great people.
Opportunities can be good if you devote your life to the company.
Every store is different. Some stores are good to work at.
Communication
Flat level organization to a certain extent.
Cons – - District/ Regional teams expectations are ridiculous.
- District visuals are very mean.
- Hard to contact corporate team for staff cards, password resets, etc.
- Closing one day then opening the next is common. Closing at 11 then opening at 7.
- Coming in to a completely trashed store in the morning, cleaning up the mess, then being asked why we didn't finish processing truck shipments in time.
- Rate of what you get paid is bad for what you go through.
- Must spend free time to read whats going on with the company and read department books.
- Near to impossible goals. Getting told that you did not make your goals everyday.
- Getting told other stores do better than you, but then finding out that the other stores lied.
- Getting told other countries do better then you.
- Even employees from successful stores come to find out that every store is different.
- Not having loss prevention.
- Being constantly understaffed, and seeing competitors make less but staff more.
- Changing routines every week with worse results.
- Cost conscious values but very wasteful in many areas.
- Having a make the difference meeting that really doesn't matter or change much.
- Being told that you must put away a full rack of clothes in 10 minutes. This is nearly impossible when everyone is assigned a different section of the store, and everyone wants to get promoted. So - Every section of the store get their racks moved around like musical chairs.
- Employees and managers leave messes that they don't clean up.
- Only received 2/5 reviews in the time working there.
- Reviews are set up for failure and hard to get past 70%. I was told that it was nearly impossible without lying.
- Never reaching bonus goals.
- You have to constantly beg for things.
- Quit rate is high.
Advice to Senior Management – Eliminate under-staffing and lower expectations.

Current Employee – been working at H&M as a contractor for more than 3 years
Pros – - when working, you are around great colleges
- the customers are mostly friendly and nice
- you receive discount on clothes
- during high school and university it is good job
Cons – - in the city stories it is a stressful enviroment, especially weekends
- if you can't keep up, you will be criticized by managers
Advice to Senior Management – - divide working tasks in a better way

Current Employee – been working at H&M full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Great Benefits! Still a rapidly growing company.
Cons – District Management does not communicate with each other. More & more work with less & less resources. Only way to move up is suck up, lie or threaten to quit. Taking vacation or wellness is much harder then it should. Lost benefits many years in a row.
Advice to Senior Management – Start communicating with each other to avoid contradictions among team members. Stop promoting people that just started in the company & ignoring the line of Department Managers who are good enough to run the stores but never made Store Managers. Liars & backstabbers go to the front of the line.

Former Employee – worked at H&M part-time for more than a year
Pros – Meet great people, can get promoted fairly quickly, fashion-forward
Cons – Well I knew that this was "just a job" for me so I always felt empty. I like clothes and shopping, but being in the fashion world is not my passion. There were co-workers who loved being an advisor. For me is what just a pay check. I only worked weekend at a high traffic area and it was pandemonium every weekend. I would walk into the fitting rooms with clothes piled to the sky waiting to be "ran" back to the sales floor. Clothes on the floor every where and know matter how much I tried to work swiftly to make sure the sales floor was in decent order it always gets disheveled within moments. It was very frustrating for me and again not my industry. I lived, and learned, and left. :)
