    Pros

The are not many good reasons to work here.if you stay in the company for to long there may be chances of growth

    Cons

No work life balance. Employees are expected to work during weekends. Hike is not as per one's effort or performance. Senior management is really poor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees well. Give them good raises. It is not a very good idea to make your employees work every weekend.

I worked at HARMAN as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    Did not find any reason

    Cons

There is no work life balance in this company, they expect employees to work minimum 12 hours a day and most of the days it gets exceeds by 12 hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should hire more resources as per your work /Project requirement, 1 resource can work efficiently only for 9 hours daily , nobody wants to spend his/her whole day in office.

I worked at HARMAN full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Salary. Great products. Large number of customers lined up.

    Cons

Poor people management and work culture. No planning of work. Boss is boss. No space for independent opinions. But this also depends on which project you are working. I was unlucky to get all these things.

Though Harman has got good products but they do not care for quality of work.

In India mostly there are support kind of projects. Not a product culture for Indian employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve middle management such as Engineering Mangers for improving work culture.

    Pros

This is a review of the automotive group and does not include the professional audio and other divisions.
If you are in any of the centre of competencies, the quality of work in development and test tends to be very high. They work with world class customers like BMW and Daimler, Jaguar Land Rover and provide some good work packages.Technically it can be challenging and rewarding, but hold on, read the cons underneath. Dont just jump and apply there.

    Cons

This place is nothing but wipro. All service industry minded people who are very cost conscious, but not conscious of anything else, like coding, testing or even common sense. The place is very very politically charged and the senior management is entirely from wipro, including HR and even finance! This makes the culture very toxic and extremely unproductive. These guys are good at making power point presentations and thats about it. No real work gets done at Harman Bangalore automotive division.

The 10% of the organisation that is non wipro genuinely contributes or tries to contribute, but the majority always side lines them. In fact if you work, someone will find fault with you.

In fact if you are not ex-wipro, you will find it very very difficult to survive there. Period.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please bring in some professionals to run the Bangalore center. All your wipro guys have spoiled the place beyond imagination and it will take you quite some time to improve the culture of the place, if you start now.
The quality of hires from wipro is extremely pathetic and is severely damaging and toxic to your company. Get rid of these people. They talk a lot, deliver nothing. Of course, they will have very "valid" reasons on why they cannot deliver or why germans have over engineered the products (read: cannot understand what the germans have written).

If you have the courage and conviction to do, take some proper exit interviews of people who are leaving and you will know the truth. Of course, what you hear will be very disturbing. 90 day notice period is not the way to retain employees! Why dont you do some harder thinking, assuming you are capable of it?

    Pros

1 in 8 months you get some good work to do that's all good there is rest of 7 months you are only doing Bug Fixing

    Cons

Harman Pro one of the three business unit of Harman has no money neither for your salary nor for infrastructure which you need for your work.
Giving a laptop to an employee is like giving you 30% bonus for them what they don't understand that this is a basic requirement. Pro BU's director is from Services company and so is every other team lead. They all still think they are in a services company. They call themselves Product company and then follow Service company culture.
Work life balance is also not so good.
Just to give you an idea hike here never goes above 10% for seniors and 15% for fresher. This too only if you are very good at buttering.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire HPro BU's director and his chamchas for a start.
Recruit some good guys with actual leadership skill .

I have been working at HARMAN full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good salary package only during joining
After that hike will be given only if you are close to manager and say yes to everything he says [ even if he says put that glass over there]

    Cons

    1. No Career path defined, only if you bring this issue they will think of that.
    2. some people [although don't know anything] think tha they know every aspect of automotive domain in this world.
    3. Leads and managers have very bossy attitude and would blame you for everything.
    4. Company does not provide tools, and resources to everyone..you need to beg, borrow and steal..

I really do not have words to describe the work-culture in Harman, people specially managers do not have any professional ethics...only thing they know is "Make it Happen"...how and in what way they don''t know...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Learn to be equal to everyone.
    2. Provide opportunity to everyone so that they can prove their potential.
    3. Have some transparency.

I have been working at HARMAN full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good starting package for lateral joinees.

    Cons

Incompetent managers, technical leads. Ruthless CEO and engineering head. People in higher level are more busy in hiring people from their states or the people talking the same language. There are more managers than engineers. No proper planning in project deliveries. People who are personally close to country engineering head get all the benefits, higher positions in the company. Most of the current projects running in India are failures. Most of the lateral joiners are from service companies and play dirty, cheap politics. Most of the work is integration of already existing solutions to some other project. No work life balance. Your work won't get recognized unless you are a boaster and you are good with your manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some capable managers, need good technical architects. Don't hire freshers from IITs and NITs by paying huge packages since they won't stay longer than a year. Give chance to students from local colleges.
