I worked at HARMAN full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Small company, easy to get offer, very well talented bluffing, dictating leads and directors

    Cons

Most of the newly joined experinced people are forced to work under less experinced, dump, immature leads.
Leads and Directors are treat employees like slaves. They dont even know the meaning of respect.
Management strongly believes bluffing and buttering skills than technical talents and hardwork.
Promotions, hike, and onsite travel purely based on bluffing and buttering skills to the managers. No proper HR policy. Only some people always get benifits, rest dont even get reply mail from management.
No proper hierarchy. positions are given in the company based on the date of joining (Great policy), Not based on experience and skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most of the talented people keep moving out, Senior management should recognize them.
Senior Management should identify such bluffing leads/managers and their politics.
Senior Management should do open talk with employees to resolve their issues.Otherwise company only left with all dump buttering people.

I have been working at HARMAN full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Being a new and growing company in india, you get a lot of recognition and your work is visible to all. Get a chance to directly communicate and work with more experienced counter parts in US and Germany. Also being very less head count company, you can directly communicate with top leads and directors.

    Cons

As a new company in india, the policies are also very new and under experimental state. Still to mature and get a reformed shape.

Current Employee - Senior Software Engineer in Bangalore

I have been working at HARMAN full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Good package
    - Company is profit. Hence, no middle drop out projects etc...

    Cons

    - Management treats employees like slaves. They don't have basic respect to their employees. Managers are like dictators.
    - No process is followed in the development life cycle.
    - If you are from a decent MNC, it is difficult to get adjusted here.
    - If you are holding an offer from Harman, might be offering little more than a standard MNC, better don't opt it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Give proper training to the managers(how to behave and to fill the spirit in the team to motivate them to work).

    I worked at HARMAN

    Pros

Brands, Products history, Compensation and benefits

    Cons

Dictatorial work culture with management having a factory culture mindset. Respect for the employees is absolutely lacking and people are in for a shock when you join for the Brand name but find high misuse of power in the top management with sycophancy and crude treatment of employees. Negative bureaucracy. Technology awareness is bleak at the top and so is the ability to do business in the market. Innovation is impossible at this center.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value employees. Empowerment in the centers can be misused to the core. Though a big global org, it is a small start up in the country. Management arrogance will lose the talent necessary for a budding center. Technology team is certainly questionable for not having technical depth.

I worked at HARMAN as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Mentor assigned to the project was very helpful and I learned a lot from him.
No Micro-management, tasks were set once a week and I use to work the whole week to achieve it.
    Wonderful team atmosphere.

I have been working at HARMAN full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

We [used to] make the world's best audio equipment.
Lot's of opportunity because people "just disappear" - never a word of thanks for all they've done, etc. They just disappear...

    Cons

Since Sidney Harman left., the new regime seem to view the company as their personal cookie jar. Reading SEC reports shows the Executive Committee regularly exercises/sells every one of the considerable options they grant themselves.

In the Infotainment division (where 5/6 of Harman's revenue is generated), Harman is no longer a technology company because that costs too much. Now our focus is on providing software services
